What Factors Affect the Cost of a Heat Pump?
Every house is different & it is therefore important that you get an MCS-certified (link) installer (such as the Reina Group) to design & price the cost of a heat pump for you. The factors which could affect this price include:
Size of the property & Where it is Located
A bigger property is likely to require a bigger system. And a house that benefits from direct sun or is located in a warmer part of the country will probably need a smaller system.
Your Existing Pipework & Heat Emitters (Radiators/Underfloor Heating)
If your pipework or radiators need upgrading, then this can add to the cost of a heat pump install. After surveying your property, we will let you know if any upgrades to either pipework or radiators are necessary & will include this in the price. It is not always necessary to have new pipework or radiators.
Your Existing Insulation
Heat pumps work best in well-insulated homes. It may also be a requirement, in order to obtain a grant from the BUS (link) that you improve your cavity wall or roof insulation. If there is a recommendation on your Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for cavity wall or roof insulation, then this will need to be undertaken alongside a heat pump installation. You can check the status of your EPC by clicking here . Insulation doesn’t need to be expensive & you could also qualify for further government grants, such as ECO4 .
