Climate Change – Ban new gas boilers from 2025 to reach net-zero
There have been some interesting headlines this week in the news – ‘Climate change: Ban new gas boilers from 2025 to reach net-zero’. This is excellent news for the Reina Group as we believe that renewable heating in the form of Heat pumps is the perfect solution for heating and providing hot water in UK homes.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) says that no new fossil fuel boilers should be sold from 2025 if the world is to achieve net-zero emissions by the middle of this century.
What’s wrong with gas boiler? Your gas boiler may innocently be hidden in a cupboard, out of sight, but your natural-gas boiler gives out emissions that contribute to overheating and destroying the planet.
Is it time to think about replacing my gas boiler with renewable heating? Don’t panic just yet but in time all gas boilers will need to be replaced by an alternative heating solution, which have no impact to the environment.
Climate advisers have reported that future homes are expected to be warmed by heat pumps, which extract warmth from the air or the ground, or from water – a bit like a fridge operating in reverse which sell for between £6,000 and £18,000.
The Government are offering initiatives in the form of The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI). People receive payments for seven years based on the amount of renewable heat made by their heating systems. However, MPs say the government need to offer more help to homeowners to incentivise a quicker up take of renewable heating methods, so watch this space.
